Nothing Left to Lose Pt. 2

 -Running away-

Kendra’s POV

Kendra was walking away from the clearing when she heard somebody call her name, “Kendra!” It was Warren, she couldn’t look at him, so she started running. “What’s wrong? Kendra?” When Kendra kept running she heard Warren start coming after her, great, how was she going to outrun Warren he was so much taller than her.

Eventually, Warren caught Kendra by the arm “What’s wrong? Why are you running away from me?” Warren asked, trying to get her to look at him, “Bracken and Seth, they,” No, she couldn’t say it, it was too hard. “I have to go, leave me alone Warren,” Kendra said, trying to get out of his grip but he held tight.

“Kendra, what happened?” Warren asked, taking Kendra by the shoulders.

“Ronodin, he killed Seth and Bracken,”

“What? No,” Warren said as if Kendra would lie about this, if she could change it she would.

“Go see for yourself, all the bodies are in the clearing.”

“All the bodies? Is Ronodin dead?” Warren asked. After hesitating for a second Kendra decided to tell Warren the truth, “Yes, I killed him,” Kendra said, with no regret.

“And where are you going with those?” Warren asked, pointing at the crown and Vasilis, “The Fairy Queen is that way, you’re going to give it back to her right?”

“Warren, I can’t, not yet I have things to do, I have to try and fix what the dragons have done,”

“Um, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but that’s Dragon Watch’s job, you know the organization you’re a part of?”

“I need to do this alone Warren, to keep everybody safe,”

“And who’s going to keep you safe? You have friends to get you through this.” Why wasn’t he listening to her? Kendra was doing all of this to protect people! She couldn’t let anybody else get hurt because of her. “No Warren! Don’t you see, everybody around me dies. I'm doing this to keep you safe,” Kendra said, pulling away from Warren taking a few steps back so that he couldn’t grab her again if she ran.

“No, Kendra, let me help you through this, please,”

“I only want everybody to be safe. I just want to fix everything. I hate Ronodin for what he did, now, he’s gone but there are still people out there who could hurt more people.” Kendra said, trying to explain this needed to be done.

“Kendra you’re angry, sad, lost, I get it. Believe me, I know what it’s like to feel like you have nothing, but you still have so much to hold on to. You are making a mistake, you’re a good person, don’t do this. Every day you’ll lose more of who you are. Every person you go after will lead you further down a path that is hard to come back from. Bracken and Seth would not have wanted this for you.” Warren said.

“Don’t tell me what they would have wanted! I’m pretty sure they would want to still be alive, and they’re not and it doesn’t really matter what they would have wanted, does it?”

“Kendra becoming the villain is not how you should go about this, let me help you,” Warren said taking a few steps towards Kendra,

“Is that what you think I’m doing? I’m getting rid of the villains not becoming one, the world will be safer if I do this. Just let me go,”

“Never, I will always believe in you, and I will always protect you, whether you like it or not.”

“This is my choice to make Warren I’m not a little girl anymore,”

“Kendra please, just come back to the camp and we can figure this out,”

“No!” Kendra noticed Warren start squinting, she was glowing again. Kendra tried to concentrate and she got the light to form around her hands, then she pushed out the energy picturing a wall between her and Warren. “What the? How did you do that?” Warren asked.

Kendra had no idea how she was doing this, it scared her, but she could learn to use this,

“I- I don’t know, just leave me alone,” Warren started walking to the edge of the forcefield trying to get over to where Kendra was but Kendra used her power again and made the wall so big that there was no way he’d get around it.

“Don’t come looking for me Warren, you won’t find me,” Kendra said and turned her back to him, then she started running ignoring his calls for her to come back.

Brandon Mull's Interview with Shadow Mountain

Today Bradon Mull was interviewed by Callie Hansen on the Shadow Moutain YouTube channel. I was able to take the time to watch it live and thought I would share some of the questions and answers with everyone. I will not go over everything said, just mostly just the things that affect Fablehaven and DragonWatch. If you want to watch the full interview, you can find it on YouTube! The first question I want to go over is: How do you come up with so many names for people, creatures, and magical items?  Brandon’s answer, “I do put thought into names because, to me, the perfect fantasy name is something king of new, and different, but also reasonably easy to pronounce.  And so finding those kinds of names, at least for me, takes time, takes some thought, sometimes I make up the names.  For example, the perfect fantasy name to me is Gandal, right? Easy to say, easy to spell and you don’t have a friend at school named Gandalf usually.  And so that’s the kind of name I...

-Endings- “Stop!” Bracken yelled, but he was too late. Kendra pulled the blade from Ronodin’s chest. Kendra’s face showed no remorse as Ronodin’s body hit the ground.  Bracken ran to Ronodin’s side, stopping him from falling down the hill.  “I just did you a huge favor,” Kendra said, wiping off her sword. “You are nothing like the girl I knew. You might be worse than he ever was.” Bracken spat at this person he did not know. “That’s what I was going for, you saw what he did to the world, now you get to see what I’ll do with it. Just to keep you on the edge of your seat, it’s a lot worse.” A big black hole like portal popped up behind Kendra, she took a step back into it and disappeared. Bracken’s attention turned to Ronodin, but he was dead. “I’m sorry,” Warren said, the morning after Ronodin was killed. “It is not your fault, that girl is the one who killed him,” Bracken replied looking out the window. They had buried Ronodin in the backyard, Bracken would have taken h...

Nothing Left to Lose Pt. 20

-Funeral- Bracken, Seth, and Warren walked into the church at twelve o’clock the next day. If this all went well, they would have Kendra back by the end of the day.  “Hello handsome, and the other two, but damn Bracken, you do look good in a suit.” She said, looking him up and down. They had all decided to go with formal wear and apparently so had she. She was wearing a long black dress that barely had a back, and her lips were the color of blood. Behind her was a picture of Kendra that was covered in black see through fabric. “Shouldn’t this be a funeral for the newest person you killed?” Bracken asked. “Really?” Kendra said with a sigh, then she snapped her fingers and a picture of Ronodin popped up, “Better?”  Bracken didn’t respond.  “Why do you even care that I killed him? Don’t you remember what he did to you? Oh, did you two make up? Have a family dinner heart to heart?” “Just because we had our differences doesn’t mean I wanted him dead, things have changed...
